Time Savers For Busy BridesFree
Tips and Ideas, Plus Online Shopping Solutions To Make Your Wedding
Planning Season Less Stressful!
July, 2003
Tips from
Robbi Ernst, founder of today's wedding consulting profession:
"Bring one paper grocery bag
for each of your bridesmaids to the room where you'll be changing.
Have each bridesmaid write her name on her own bag
and use it to store her clothing after she changes into her
gown. That way everything will be stored compactly and neatly,
and everyone will be able to find all of their own things
quickly after the reception."
"Be careful where you hang
your gown if you are dressing in a hotel or other public
room. We once read of a bride who hung her gown onto the hotel's
safety fire sprinkler head, triggering the entire sprinkler
system!"
"Ask your stationer to get the envelopes
to you early so you [or your professional calligrapher]
can begin addressing them; you don't have to wait until you
have the invitations themselves to begin this task. Also .
. . some stationers are able to do calligraphy by computer
software; be sure to ask about this."
"If you are on a restricted budget,
think about ordering a smaller, fully decorated cake
to display at the reception and a large sheet cake that can
be plated and served from the kitchen."

Don't
learn "the hard way"
take advantage of these tips from newlyweds who learned a
thing or two during their planning that they want to share:
"When auditioning caterers, be sure
to ask if there's a tasting charge - we were unpleasantly
surprised by a $45/person charge right before heading out
to an expensive dinner. Ouch!" - Connie, married
2001
"Write out your checks before the
start of 'the day,' and be sure to have cash for tips."
- Pete, married 2002
