Valentine's Day Weddings

Considering a Valentine's Day wedding? Valentine's Day is the most romantic day of the year -- and having your wedding on Valentine's Day should make remembering your anniversary a snap! However, to avoid unpleasant surprises, keep in mind the following:

* If Valentine's Day falls on a weekend, you can be sure there will be hefty competition for a reception site! Be sure to plan far in advance. It's helpful if you can be flexible about your dream location.

* Can you be flexible about the day of the week? If Valentine's Day falls on a weekday, you could save money on your venue if you can hold your wedding mid-week.

* Flowers can be more expensive around Valentine's Day -- in fact, it can be hard to find a florist who's available (those with retail storefronts will find it especially tough). Consider selecting a florist who does only weddings and events -- no deliveries or retail sales.

* Winter weather can be romantic ... but sometimes problematic, too. If you live in the snowbelt, consider a destination wedding in Florida, Hawaii, the Caribbean. You can get a jumpstart on your honeymoon with a "weddingmoon," and your guests can make a vacation of it, too.
