More Bridal Show Tips!

Wedding Show Season is in full swing! Bridal shows small and large offer a great opportunity to efficiently review a variety of wedding services and vendors in one day. Still, without forethought, a potentially efficient way to shop for your wedding can be a stressful and unpleasant situation. So ... we bring you the second of our favorite tips for enhancing your bridal show experience. (For our first tip, visit last month's column here.)

Our second wedding show tip: Know what show you're going to.

Shows differ greatly in size, scope and "vibe." If you're game to make a day of a show, see as many vendors as possible, accumulate a big bag of literature and options, and see up to three wedding and bridesmaid gown fashion shows, then look for a large-scale show in a major metro area, in an expo center or large hotel ballroom. Or, if relaxed and low-pressure is more your thing, look for a local show at a restaurant or reception site -- one that emphasizes "intimate," "relaxed," "local," and advertises 50 or fewer exhibitors. You'll see fewer companies ... but get to talk with the ones that interest you at length.

And don't forget to confirm directions, dates, and locations on the show's web site. (It's not uncommon for times and locations -- and even show dates -- to change after a show is advertised, since wedding publications often go to press months before show time.)
